Trip Overview
Experience the Land of the Midnight Sun on this 14-day adventure. Students will explore the Alaskan wilderness on a 4-day backpack of Johnson Pass – one of the Kenai Peninsulas most notable through hikes! On the backpacking expedition, students will learn backcountry skills including traveling comfortably with a backpack, selecting and setting up a backcountry campsite, sourcing and purifying water, and cooking over small backpacking stoves. They’ll hone those skills as they embark into the backcountry again to sea kayak the Prince William Sound. For 4 days, the group will paddle through pristine waters, among stunning glaciers and wildlife. At night, they will set up camp on the beaches of the Sound and warm up by the campfire. Students on this program will also experience the thrilling Matanuska River with a day of whitewater rafting.
*Backpacking locations may vary depending on permits and trail conditions.
